Sofia joined Parenting Across Borders as a volunteer while pursuing a master’s degree in Migration and Ethnic Relations, with the goal of ensuring that her efforts not only contribute to research, but also have a meaningful and tangible impact.
Originally from Sicily, she draws on her own experience building a life in a new country, which makes her feel strongly connected to the organization’s mission and values. With a background in Linguistics and Social Psychology, she has a passion for multilingualism, education and the ways families adapt to and thrive in multicultural environments.
In her role, she gathers and analyzes participants’ perspectives, identifying trends and areas for improvement to shape future Parenting Across Borders initiatives. Through her work, Sofia contributes to the organization’s vision of supporting international parents to build a sense of belonging across languages and cultures.
